The Jedi Temple owes a great debt of gratitude to Lucasfilm Ltd. and more specifically to George Lucas, without whom neither this site nor the entire concept of the Jedi would exist. We would like to take this opportunity to say unequivocally that this site does not wish to pose any threat to the sanctity of Lucasfilm, Ltd.’s copyright of the entire Star Wars franchise. The Jedi Temple seeks to be an otherwise independent site, with unique content which bears no relation to the story line nor associated characters nor products.
In fact, we fully support the entire Star Wars franchise and encourage you, our visitor, to take some time and support this worthy inspiration by going to the Star Wars site and making at least one purchase there.
The extent of use of a minuscule portion (the concept of the Jedi) of the copyright work (the Star Wars franchise) as used here is intended to be done under “Fair Use” according to U.S. Copyright laws, specifically Section 107 under the auspices of “criticism, comment, […] teaching […], scholarship, [and] research”. “[T]he amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole” is intended to be minimal and “the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work” is intended to be positive and beneficial to the copyright owner, Lucasflim, Ltd.
In the future, the Jedi Temple seeks to become recognized as a Non-Profit Religious Institution.
